10 Days And 9 Nights Magical Morocco Tour From And Back To Casablanca

Overview

Experience the best of Morocco on this immersive 10-day tour from Casablanca — a carefully curated itinerary that takes you from the Atlantic coast to the golden dunes of the Sahara Desert. Perfect for travelers seeking authentic culture, UNESCO World Heritage sites, and breathtaking landscapes, this is one of Morocco’s most sought-after travel experiences.

Casablanca to Chefchaouen: Where the Journey Begins

Your Morocco tour begins with a guided orientation of Casablanca, Morocco’s largest city. Explore its iconic Hassan II Mosque — one of the largest mosques in the world — its buzzing medina, and its wide French colonial boulevards. A stop in Rabat, Morocco’s political capital and a UNESCO-listed city, sets the historical tone before you head north to Chefchaouen.

Nestled in the Rif Mountains, Chefchaouen’s striking blue-painted streets are among the most photographed in all of Africa. Spend time wandering its photogenic alleyways, soaking in the calm atmosphere and mountain air.

Discovering Fez: Morocco’s Cultural Capital

En route to Fez, stop at the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis — a must-see archaeological site and a highlight of any Morocco itinerary. Then, dive into Fez el-Bali, the world’s largest car-free urban area and a living UNESCO World Heritage site. A professional guided tour reveals the city’s labyrinthine souks, ornate fountains, centuries-old mosques, royal palaces, and the historic Jewish Mellah quarter.

Merzouga Sahara Desert: The Ultimate Morocco Experience

Crossing the Middle Atlas Mountains and the scenic town of Ifrane, your journey continues to the legendary Merzouga Desert — Morocco’s most iconic Sahara destination. Mount a camel and trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes to witness a spectacular desert sunset. Spend the night beneath a canopy of stars in a traditional Berber camp, enjoying authentic Moroccan cuisine and Berber music around the fire.

The Road of a Thousand Kasbahs to Ouarzazate

The final leg of your Morocco tour follows the dramatic “Route of a Thousand Kasbahs,” passing ancient fortified villages, dramatic gorges, and palm-filled oases before arriving in Ouarzazate — Morocco’s cinematic capital and gateway to the south.

What To Expect

1

Day 1: Casablanca — arrival & city tour

Welcome to Morocco! Upon arrival in Casablanca, Morocco’s economic capital and largest city, you’ll be transferred to your hotel for check-in. Your orientation tour covers the broad Haussmann-style avenues, the labyrinthine streets of the old medina, United Nations Square, Place Mohammed V, the Anfa residential district, the scenic Corniche boulevard, and the magnificent Hassan II Mosque — the second-largest mosque in the world and one of the few open to non-Muslim visitors. Dinner and overnight in Casablanca.

2

Day 2: Casablanca → Rabat → Chefchaouen

After breakfast, head north with a stop in Rabat, Morocco’s UNESCO-listed political capital. Visit the iconic red-ochre ramparts built under Sultan Yacoub El-Mansour (over 5 km long), the ornate Hassan Tower with its four uniquely decorated facades, the ruins of the ancient mosque, and the breathtaking Mohammed V Mausoleum — a masterpiece of Moroccan craftsmanship. Continue into the Rif Mountains to reach Chefchaouen, the legendary blue city. Dinner and overnight in a riad.

3

Day 3: Chefchaouen → Volubilis → Fez

Enjoy a morning stroll through Chefchaouen’s iconic blue-painted alleyways before departing for Fez. En route, stop at Volubilis — Morocco’s best-preserved Roman archaeological site, dating back over 2,000 years and a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore its ancient forums, triumphal arch, and remarkably intact mosaics before continuing to Fez for dinner and overnight in a traditional riad in the medina.

4

Day 4: Fez — full-day guided medina tour

Spend a full day exploring Fez el-Bali, the world’s largest car-free urban area and a living UNESCO World Heritage Site. Your expert guide leads you through the labyrinthine souks, past the Quaraouiyine Mosque (founded 859 AD, considered the world’s oldest university), the Andalusian Mosque, the Nejjarine Fountain, 13th-century Koranic schools (Medersas), the Batha Palace Museum, the famous Chouara Tanneries, Souk Attarine, the blue-and-green-tiled Bab Boujloud gate, and the 17th-century Ibn Danan Synagogue in the Mellah quarter. Afternoon panoramic views of the medina from Borj Nord or Sud. Overnight in Fez.

5

Day 5: Fez → Ifrane → Midelt → Merzouga Sahara

An epic cross-country drive begins with a stop in Ifrane, a charming Alpine-style ski resort built by the French in the 1930s — a striking contrast to the Moroccan landscape. Visit the Cedar Forest of Azrou and spot Barbary macaques in their natural habitat. Cross the dramatic Middle Atlas Mountains through Berber villages, cedar forests, and mountain springs. Lunch break in Midelt, Morocco’s fossil and mineral capital, then continue south past a spectacular palm oasis panorama to reach the golden dunes of Merzouga’s Erg Chebbi. Mount your camel and ride into the dunes at sunset. Spend the night in a traditional Berber desert camp under a canopy of stars.

6

Day 6: Merzouga → Todra Gorge → Ouarzazate

Wake up to a golden Sahara sunrise before departing on the legendary Road of a Thousand Kasbahs — one of Morocco’s most cinematic drives, winding through the Ziz Valley, dramatic escarpments, and lush palm-lined river valleys dotted with ancient mud-brick villages. A highlight of the day is a walk through the towering Todra Gorge in Tinghir, where 300-metre rock walls rise dramatically on either side of a cool mountain stream. Continue through the Historic Kasbahs of Skoura and the fragrant Rose Valley — source of Morocco’s world-famous rose water — before arriving in Ouarzazate, the gateway to the Sahara and Morocco’s cinematic capital. Dinner and overnight in a riad.

7

Day 7: Ouarzazate → Aït Benhaddou → Marrakech

Begin the morning with a visit to Ouarzazate, exploring the Kasbah Taourirt and the legendary Atlas Film Studios — the largest film studios in Africa, whose sets have brought Gladiator, Babel, and Lawrence of Arabia to life. From there, make your way to the extraordinary Ksar of Aït Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage fortified village rising dramatically from the surrounding desert. Then head north over the breathtaking Tizi n’Tichka mountain pass, climbing to 2,260 metres through the High Atlas, past tumbling waterfalls, traditional Berber villages, and an ever-changing tapestry of colour and rock. Descend into the warmth and energy of Marrakech. Dinner and overnight in a riad.

8

Day 8: Marrakech — full-day guided medina tour

A full day to fall in love with the Red City. Your guided tour takes in the serene Menara Gardens, the soaring 12th-century Koutoubia Minaret, the hushed splendour of the Saadian Tombs, the rich Berber collections of the Dar Si Said Museum, and the lavishly decorated Bahia Palace. After lunch at a local restaurant, lose yourself in the colour and chaos of Marrakech’s legendary souks — spices, leather, ceramics, lanterns, and silk at every turn. The day ends with a sunset drink overlooking the mesmerising spectacle of Jemaa el-Fna square, alive with storytellers, musicians, and street food. Dinner and overnight in your riad.

9

Day 9: Marrakech → Casablanca

Enjoy a leisurely final morning in Marrakech — time to revisit a favourite souk, pick up last-minute argan oil or handmade leather goods, or simply savour one last mint tea in the riad courtyard. After lunch, transfer back to Casablanca for your final night in Morocco. Dinner and overnight in your hotel.

10

Day 10: Casablanca — departure

After breakfast, enjoy a private transfer to Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport for your departure flight. Your 10-day Moroccan adventure draws to a close — but the golden dunes, ancient medinas, towering kasbahs, and warmth of the Moroccan people will stay with you long after you return home.
