After meeting you, we leave Casablanca towards Midelt, passing through and visiting Meknes, one of the Imperial Cities. We continue crossing the Middle Atlas and Cedar Forest. We stop near Azrou to see the monkeys and also for rest and to take some pictures. We will pass through many Berber villages. To make the drive shorter, we will spend the first night in Midelt. Dinner & Overnight at the Hotel.
After breakfast and rest, we depart towards the Sahara Desert. We will stop at a few panoramic views of the Ziz Oasis, with a nice green view of the palm trees. We will continue through a few villages and historical Kasbahs. We continue towards the desert and stop for a small visit to Rissani, the first capital of the Alouite dynasty ruling now in Morocco. This includes some historical Kasbahs and the famous market. You will also have the opportunity to try the local food of the area, the Berber Pizza. We take the way to the desert. After resting and having mint tea, the guide and camels will be waiting to carry you across the sandy dunes of Erg Chebbi. You will enjoy the beauty of the sunset on camelback. After one hour, you will reach the desert camp to spend the night in a Berber tent. At your desert shelter, your camels are hobbled and mint tea is served. After a wonderful dinner, watch the stars and overnight in the Berber tent.
In the morning, you can get up early, take a walk over the sand dunes, and watch the sunrise from just behind the Algerian border, which is about 50 km from Merzouga. We take a camel back to the hotel. We will take the way back to Fez, including stops for rest and lunch. We reach Fez in the evening, and we drop you off at your hotel/riad for the end of the trip.
Note: It’s possible if you want to end back in Casablanca or Marrakech.
