Day 1: High Atlas Passes, Rose Valleys, and Sunset Camel Trek

Your Marrakech to Merzouga desert adventure starts early with a convenient pickup from your hotel or riad in Marrakech. The journey takes you through the breathtaking High Atlas Mountains, crossing the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass at 2,260 meters, one of the most scenic roads in Morocco.

Along the way, enjoy changing landscapes, from green valleys and mountain roads to traditional Berber villages built into the hillsides. The route continues through Ouarzazate, known as the gateway to the Sahara and a famous filming location, before passing the beautiful Valley of Roses and the dramatic Dades Valley. By late afternoon, you will reach Merzouga, at the edge of the golden Erg Chebbi dunes.

After a warm welcome with traditional Moroccan mint tea, your camel guide will lead you on a peaceful camel trek across the Sahara dunes. As the sun sets over Erg Chebbi, the desert turns into a magical landscape of soft golden colors. The camel ride takes around one hour before arriving at your desert camp in Merzouga.

In the evening, settle into your comfortable Berber tent and enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner under the stars. The night continues around the campfire with local music, Berber drums, and nomad songs, creating an unforgettable Sahara desert experience in Morocco.

Day 2: Sunrise over the Dunes and the Road to Fez

Wake up before sunrise and enjoy a short walk to the top of the dunes to admire one of the most beautiful moments in the Sahara: the sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes. As the first light touches the golden sand, the desert landscape becomes calm, warm, and unforgettable.

After sunrise, enjoy your final camel ride back from the desert camp to the hotel, where a fresh breakfast and a refreshing shower will be waiting for you. Then, your journey continues toward Fez.

The route from Merzouga to Fez takes you through the green Ziz Valley, passing palm groves, traditional Berber villages, and scenic desert landscapes. You will then cross the beautiful Middle Atlas Mountains, with changing views along the way, before arriving in Fez in the afternoon.
